BGL Policy Briefs Toolkit

In the time-poor world of policymaking, getting information that is clear and concise is of utmost importance. In the other time-poor world of academia, disseminating research to your intended audience and driving impact is equally important.

Policy briefs are one way to tackle both of these issues. The BGL Policy Brief Toolkit seeks to make creating policy briefs accessible and straightforward to researchers; while also ensuring they meet the demands of conveying the key information policymakers need.

The online Toolkit sets out a series of informative guides, videos and templates to support the development of policy briefs across a range of disciplines and audiences. The Toolkit is dynamic with new materials, examples and templates added to ensure the Toolkit remains relevant and insightful.

Development of the BGL Policy Brief Toolkit

The BGL Policy Brief Toolkit is an initiative of the Faculty of Business, Government and Law, 麻豆传媒映画出品. The development project included the development of draft materials based on network experience, document analysis and a small series of interviews with former senior Australian Public Service staff. Draft materials were shared in a pilot workshop to test the materials with 麻豆传媒映画出品 researchers before final development.

Additional Toolkit development activities may include further engagement with current APS staff and other policy influencers to better understand contemporary information needs and the ongoing role of Policy Briefs in policy development.
